Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya launched the Khelo India Annual Calendar, a major initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports aimed at strengthening grassroots sports and athlete development across India. The calendar outlines a year-round schedule of national-level competitions, including new additions like the Khelo India Beach Games, School Games, Water Sports, North-East Games, Tribal Games, and Indigenous & Martial Art Games.
Highlighting the initiative’s role in building a competitive and inclusive sporting ecosystem, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized its importance in preparing athletes for global events like the Commonwealth Games 2030 and Olympics 2036. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for transforming India’s sports landscape over the past decade.
The initiative also includes structured pathways for talent identification, regional representation, and development of local sports infrastructure. Upcoming events for 2025 include the Khelo India Beach Games in Diu (May), School Games (Aug–Dec), and Tribal Games in Chhattisgarh (Sept), among others.
With technical support from National Sports Federations and a focus on inclusivity and traditional sports, the expanded Khelo India platform aims to make India a global sporting powerhouse.
